Fellow citizens agreed on the need and fund-raising began. Donations included a $15,000 grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation matched by $10,000 raised by local citizens and $5,000 from the estate of the late Robert Dobson. With a great deal of pomp and circumstance it was dedicated along with the monument to the Soldiers of the Civil War on May 28, 1904. The library was expanded in 2010 to better serve the needs of the community. The current library is a center for all members of the community gather to meet and interact, get information and entertainment, and meet their needs for personal growth and development through lifelong learning.
